Designer Margarita Merezhnyuk designed a two-level apartment for a young couple of IT specialists, realizing their dream of a house in the style of a fantastic spaceship.

The customers are a young family of two people who are engaged in programming. The new apartment was supposed to be the most convenient for them to work and relax. Their lifestyle is connected with home pastime: they are here and do business, and have fun, and invite guests, so it was very important to think through a variety of scenarios.

The single space of the living room, dining room and kitchen is decided in the lightest possible range with a predominance of white and light gray colors. The love of modern technology has played a key role. The customers wanted to equip their apartment with them to the maximum. So there was an idea to make the control of the main functions with the help of a voice assistant, and at the same time the concept of an interior stylized as a spaceship was born. An important factor in the implementation of the plans was the environmental friendliness of materials (without harmful oils, resins, impregnations), as well as the absence of plastic.

The view from the hallway to the living room is intriguing. The blinds on the panoramic windows echo the design of the wall panel and the fencing of the spiral staircase.

«The acquaintance with the customers happened when the repair was already started with another designer,» comments the author of the project. — At first it was just advice on problematic issues at the beginning of construction, and then it turned out that the design project was not very pleasant to the customers, they were simply convinced that what they wanted was very difficult to implement.» The main wish was related to the large free space of the living room-dining room and kitchen. Initially, the kitchen was very small, and the dark corridor was large, besides, the stairs were squeezed against the wall in the far corner. Combining these premises solved these problems. The whole space was filled with light from panoramic windows, and the spiral staircase, due to its spectacular design, began to look like an art object. In general, the new planning solution is based on the principle of circular movement through functional zones and rooms, which allows you to freely interact with the space, avoid closed nooks.

Modern technologies that have been equipped with an apartment are not just a fashionable whim, but rather a way of life and ideas about comfort. In this interior, a smart home control system is implemented via a smartphone. Interaction with lighting, ventilation and heating turned out to be especially relevant. The climate control is programmed to provide the set air temperature and humidity. Door opening sensors turn on the light in dark rooms, it is only necessary to slightly open the door. And in general, turning on the light and adjusting its brightness can be controlled from a smartphone, choosing the «work» or «rest» scenario. There you can also lower the blinds on the windows and turn on music or a movie.

The image of the «space» apartment was formed due to the monochrome color scheme, light floor, laconic forms, glowing walls and, in general, a lot of built-in lights. At the same time, it was decided to make the public space as bright as possible, but the private rooms were dark. A room on the 2nd floor is reserved for the organization of a workplace and a home theater and is also decorated in dark colors. «Perhaps the most iconic element in the interior was the staircase,» adds designer Margarita Merezhnyuk. — We wanted to make it like a fantastic portal that «teleports» people to another floor, as if to another dimension. Glowing wall panels added special expressiveness. They also brought a space theme, their geometric pattern refers to the control panel of the aircraft and associations with the skin of ships. All this was made according to my sketches.»
