Nature and art: country house 500 sq. m. m in the Moscow region

The owners — residents of the metropolis — moved out of town only with the appearance of children. They commissioned designer Olesya Fedorenko to realize the dream of a cozy country house, who created for them an interior in the style of a modern chalet filled with art objects.

Area: 500 sq. m

A married couple are real residents of a megalopolis and have never thought about moving out of town. However, with the appearance of two little daughters, the charms of country life became more obvious, they bought a plot in the near Moscow region and began to build a house. First remotely (at that time they were still in America), and then in person, already in Moscow, when the time came to do the interior design.

The compositional center of the living room is a massive stone fireplace and a sitting area organized around it with a soft sofa, fur and leather armchairs. The coffee table with a deliberately rough texture is made in the author’s technique of Denis Milovanov in the Soha workshop. On the table there are Global views accessories, Marina Akilova’s vases from Balchug gallery. Above the fireplace furnace is a sculpture by Nikolai Belov «Blue nude ||».

They commissioned Olesya Fedorenko, the head and founder of the Home Nature studio, to create a suitable interior in spirit. «Our ideas and the wishes of our customers perfectly coincided,» Olesya notes. — We specialize in the theme of eco-friendly design and conscious consumption. The owners, in turn, wanted to create a chalet atmosphere in the interior, but at the same time light and modern. Therefore, we used traditional techniques and materials in the decoration: massive stone, textured wooden surfaces, leather, fur, metal. This refers us to the idea of a chalet. But so that the rough textures don’t look too heavy, we softened them with light natural textiles on the windows and in the furniture. Due to the combination of different textures, the interior looks cozy and multifaceted. At the same time, it was necessary to emphasize the natural component and «let» nature into the house: for this purpose, we hung light wooden blinds on the large panoramic windows, which open a view of a beautiful spruce-birch forest.»

The leather chairs have a built-in rotary mechanism that allows you to turn them to the windows and enjoy the view.

Working with wooden houses is not an easy task, and especially in decorating. It is important to preserve the purity and lightness of the material, emphasize the naturalness and not overload the space, because the tree lives its own life, has its own texture, sets the tone and meaning of the whole space. According to the author of the project, the most difficult thing was to choose the right color for painting. Cedar timber has a special feature — a non-uniform pink shade. Numerous paints and special water-soluble paints helped to preserve the structure of the tree and give the timber the desired color. «It was important for us to emphasize environmental friendliness and harmony with nature, to create a space corresponding to the spirit and lifestyle of customers,» explains Olesya. — Therefore, here, as in all our projects, we gave preference to suppliers who have eco-certificates for their products. For example, all wooden materials are made from raw materials certified according to the FSC standard, all textiles have a Naturtextil certificate. We use only eco-friendly water-soluble paints, recyclable materials and pay special attention to energy-saving technologies.»

From the very beginning, the interior was planned to be calm, in neutral natural tones, without bright details. But since the owners are interested in art, it was decided to make active accents. Thus, an art object «Blue Nude II» by architect and artist Nikolai Belov appeared in the living room, which became the undisputed dominant of the space. In general, the theme of art has an important role. The hostess is fond of design, and the eldest daughter studies at the College of Art in London, so you can see the works of famous Russian artists in the house. The author of the project is particularly proud of the fact that almost all interior items — furniture, kitchen, lamps — are produced by local workshops. We can say that import substitution is in action! There is not a single random object here, everything is interconnected and serves a common idea.
