Russian designers shared tips on how to choose a real estate object and create the perfect space for a relaxed holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

«In my opinion, spaces intended for recreation should be a place of reboot, so I advise customers to make bold decisions that differ in character from the usual interior of the main housing. The spaces surrounding us always influence our perception of the world — there is no need to be afraid to change the usual.

After all, interior design is always possible to fit within the budget and at the same time not lose the author’s design notches, which are based on the individual wishes of the customer. For example, you can use a domestic product (ranging from finishing materials to pieces of furniture), which in recent years is not so bad.»

Maria Sudakova: «The ideal interior should merge with the nature around as much as possible»

«When choosing a home by the sea, it is important to take into account the location of the object: often owners want mainly the first coastline, which means they need to carefully consider the choice of materials. Salt and wind are aggressive environments, so it is important to design facades and terraces only from high—strength materials.

But in the design of the interior itself, all styles and directions are possible, but without overloading the space with luxury: the ideal interior should merge as much as possible with the nature around. I like the bright interiors of the Mediterranean style with a minimum number of details. But in the work of my studio there is a demand from customers for different styles.»

Maria Gubina: «In the interior, you can safely use «cold» textures: glass and glossy surfaces»

«Of course, the most important thing in an apartment by the sea is the view! If you have it, that’s half the success. We always design the layout and arrangement of furniture in such an interior, based on the fact that the owners will be able to admire the view from the windows.

In addition, the sun in the south is very bright and active, so you can safely use «cold» textures in the interior: glass, glossy surfaces, polished metal. Their presence will add a welcome coolness to the interior.

And the active sun also disposes to the use of bright colors, because the contrast of the sky outside the window and sunlight will balance the juicy spots in the interior of an apartment or house.

As for the technical aspects, it is necessary to pay attention to sun protection: use roller shutters, ordinary wooden or metal shutters for windows, awnings, special coatings for glass reflecting the sun’s rays and ultraviolet.»

«When choosing an apartment, I would advise paying attention to three characteristics. First of all, this is the general level of the residential complex: now there are many worthy complexes, but still among them there are those where little attention is paid to the MOPS and the house territory.

For example, we designed several apartments, which, although they were located on the 1st line by the sea, did not have a beautiful view due to the low number of floors or the peculiarities of the location of the apartment.»

«When creating an apartment by the south sea, first of all, I want to make an interior with a serene atmosphere that disposes to rest. One of the things that needs to be carefully thought out is air conditioning. When placing duct systems, it is necessary to provide for the cutting off of warm air from the windows, so the output grilles are placed along the windows: otherwise, especially with large panoramic windows, the system may not cope.

The second point is the flooring in the kitchen—living room area. Almost always I bet on a tile or a stone: in the heat, such a coating will be pleasantly cold.

The third point is thoughtful textiles. Contrary to popular opinion about light weightless curtains, appropriate in «marine» interiors, sometimes it is worth providing dense textiles on the lining to protect from the sun — this helps to cut off excess light in the hot time of the day. Also, the lining will prevent the burning of fabrics, which is very important, especially for rooms facing the south side.»
