The apartment in the style of modern classics is a continuation of the general concept of the Moscow residential complex «English Quarter». The owner of the apartment bought this apartment for herself and her 17-year-old daughter. A lawyer, a connoisseur of modern painting, designer furniture and accessories, she set out to create a decent harmonious background for life.

Area: 121 sq. m

The main wish was to make the space elegant and bright, with a classical architectural basis, with up-to-date technical solutions and modern furniture. In addition, the customer asked to create a circular layout and organize several dressing rooms. It was also necessary to fit art objects and antique lamps from the hostess’s collection into the new interior.

Living room. The main character of this room is a blue sofa (Paolo Castelli) on a sandy background of walls and kitchen furniture.

«The apartment went to the owner from the developer «in concrete,» the author of the project recalls, «and there were restrictions only in how the «wet» zones should be located.»

Everything was done in accordance with the wishes, while special attention was paid to storage systems. A wardrobe (slightly more than 2 meters in length) was placed in the entrance hall in the entrance area, next to it is a dressing room for outerwear and storage of household appliances.

Fireplace area of the living room. The bio-fireplace is lined with marble, above it is an aged mirror and a painting by the artist Alexandra Cox. On the sides are brass sconces, Rooma design. «The mirror reflects the window, it increases the amount of natural light in the room and its volume,» explains Anastasia Sautkina. On the coffee table (Marelli) — the author’s ceramics of Nadezhda Dmitrieva. Ventilation grilles repeat the pattern of the gypsum cornice.

Accessories in the living room.

In the hall, in a cabinet with frosted glass doors, they found a place for a library. In the children’s bedroom, a mini-dressing room with a depth of 1 meter was organized (it hides behind frosted glass doors, as well as books in the hall). The master bedroom has the largest dressing room.

The space of the kitchen-dining room. Modern smooth matte facades of the kitchen (Binova) are harmoniously combined with the plaster cornice of the ceiling. On the floor there is a porcelain tile laid with geometric figures diagonally (according to the designer’s sketches). This helps to visually enlarge the space. Eclecticism mixed with neoclassicism looks very elegant. The walls throughout the apartment are finished with plaster moldings with a rectangular layout and painted in the color of the walls, the ceiling is framed by plaster cornices. In the bathrooms, hallway and kitchen — porcelain stoneware with brass inserts and a unique pattern made according to the sketches of Anastasia Sautkina. In the rooms on the floor there is a «French Christmas tree» made of solid wood under transparent oil.

In the living room and hall, the walls are a light neutral shade — on the one hand, this is a good background for interesting pieces of furniture, and on the other — a good companion for moldings (moldings paired with «active», bright, and even more colorful walls would cause a feeling that the interior is overloaded).

The nursery was designed in blue tones, but in the process of implementation, the client decided to replace the color with a more neutral gray. Pink accents soften the overall impression.

The furniture was chosen comfortable, concise, modern forms, preferred things that combine metal and textiles. In this project, the author used furniture from Italian brands such as Tosconova, Daytonahome, Falper, Paolocastelli, Marelli, Cattelanitalia, Kundalini, Milldue, Kartell. As well as Russian brands and carpentry industries — Rooma design, Handle studio, Any home, Latuning.

Hallway. «The entrance door (from the developer) is 2 m high,» says the author of the project. — To make it visually higher, we made a false frame and combined the door and transom with a trim.» The drawing on the floor is made according to the sketches of the designer. Working with this project, the author paid a lot of attention to lighting. «In the context of the chosen style, the light is not just functional, it is also a means of decoration,» says Anastasia. So, above the dining table — a group of Kundalini lamps, in the guest bathroom — Handlestudio sconces, in the bedroom, hall and nursery — vintage chandeliers.

An elegant composition of a dressing table (Any Home), a hexagonal mirror (Rooma design) and a chair made of transparent polycarbonate (Kartell) has been created on the loggia.

«It was not easy to work with carpentry workshops, as not all of them are able to make complex facades from several materials. It was also difficult to combine brass from different industries, since the color of the material differs from different manufacturers. However, we coped with all these tasks, and the project was successfully implemented in 9 months,» says the author of the project.
