Andrey Yudin, Konstantin Novikov, Daria Egorova and Artem Stetsenko completed the apartment project for a married couple. The wish of the customers was to create an author’s interior corresponding to the high qualities of comfort and aesthetics familiar to them.

Since the architects were initially faced with the task of making a spectacular, impressive interior, they turned for inspiration to the Art Deco style, which is characterized by the «ability» to spectacularly combine different materials, use valuable wood species, as well as strict geometry of shapes and elegant art objects.

«In the process of communicating with customers about the future interior, it turned out that they were impressed by the most open common space,» says Andrey Yudin, «therefore, the project does not have an entrance hall and a hall as a separate dedicated area, which made it possible to effectively use the area.» When guests get into the apartment, they immediately have a view of the main area — the living room.

In the living room there are wall panels with veneer and leather trim, Foglie D’oro parquet, Terzani light, IPM Light, Visionnaire, Rugiano, Efetti furniture, Sigma l2 decor, brass partitions made to order.

«The task of maximally opening the space was complicated by the location of ventilation ducts in the center of the living room,» recalls Andrey Yudin. «But we managed to turn this minus into a plus by placing a kitchen in the center of the open space.» It was decided as an accent architectural volume that unites the rest of the functional areas — the living room and dining room, as well as recreation areas located in bay windows (in one of them — a coffee table, in the other — a sofa).

Initially, this apartment consisted of two, but at the stage of purchase, the customer combined them. The second apartment now performs the function of a private master block with a bedroom, bathroom and dressing room. Redevelopment was not required, because initially there was a free plan, an apartment without partitions.

The kitchen is located unusually — it serves as a section between the living and dining areas.

The choice of materials was predetermined by the characteristics of the residential complex, the location of the object and the wishes of customers. So, as a floor covering in all areas, except bathrooms, there is a parquet made of stained oak of the Italian brand Foglie Doro with integrated metal inserts. This material has become a key link that unites the space into one whole. Cherry veneer and leather panels are used as a background material in wall decoration. The accents are brass elements, three-dimensional glossy panels, portals made of natural stone.

The layout of the living room has an inharmonious configuration with two protruding bay windows, which the authors of the project visually managed to structure and balance thanks to the finishing of the ceiling with glossy rosewood panels. This detail not only «collects» the space, but also indicates the character of the interior, creates an atmosphere of respectability. Uniform finishing materials are used in all areas of this apartment, so the project is perceived as a whole — both from the point of view of functional solutions and from the point of view of artistic ones.

This is how the volume of the kitchen looks from the other side.

Two dressing rooms are allocated as storage systems: the first is at the entrance to the apartment, the second is a master dressing room in a private part of the space. The apartment also has a laundry room with spacious storage areas. The functionality of the kitchen hides from the eyes of residents behind the coplanar doors, made in a single finish with the wall panels of the living room.

In each room, options are thought out according to lighting scenarios, depending on the functions. The common living space is illuminated by soft diffused cornice light. Decorative lamps were used as accent lighting in each functional area: Sigma l2 table lamps on the console near the sofas, Terzani openwork chandeliers made of chains in the dining area and at the bar.

The master unit includes a bathroom and a dressing room, the doors of which have been disguised and combined into a single alcantara volume behind the headboard.

The dominant feature of the entire space was a 28-meter lamp made of crystal pendants, made to order according to the sketches of the bureau by the Italian factory IPM Lighting. It not only looks spectacular, but is also functional: it has different illumination scenarios and a dimming function. In this project there is a large amount of author’s light, made to order in Italy.

The color palette of the object is made mainly in natural shades: cherry veneer combined with light skin. The lacquer panels and furniture finishes were matched to match. The only contrasts are inserts made of natural stone with bright veins and rosewood veneer. A fresh and sonorous accent is added to the interior by brass trim elements.

The most important parameter when choosing furniture was its quality, the main attention was paid to the conformity of the project and the very image of the future interior. The authors chose brands with a serious reputation in the interior suite: Visionnaire, Rugiano, Sigma l2, Terzani, Oasis.

The main accent of the bathroom in the master bedroom was a mosaic panel made to order, which is revealed to the viewer from the entrance to the bath. The combination of silvery colors in the finish with brass elements, Oasis furniture and an airy glass chandelier from IPM Lighting create an atmosphere of chic.

Since the project is saturated with a large number of details, it combines different materials, the decor is present in minimal quantities. These are, for example, Sigma l2 floor vases, art in the viewpoints of the living room, as well as interior textiles.

The guest bathroom is built on a combination of natural marble and porcelain stoneware background decoration. Arches have been carved out of stone, which have become the dominant feature of this space. Natural drawing allows you to enliven the interior, and a large mirror opposite makes it endless.

It took two years to implement the interior. The most difficult thing to implement, as the authors of the project admit, was the combination and docking of a large number of finishing materials: it turned out to be difficult, but possible, to aesthetically combine in one space and assemble all the finishes in tone.

The result is an elegant interior in a modern style with Art Deco elements. This style manifests itself subtly and only in some details: in a combination of materials, in the rhythm of the ornament of brass partitions and lacquer panels. This is a completely personalized, author’s interior, consonant with the nature of the people living in the apartment, and does not lose its relevance.
